Opportunity Description

 

Summary:
The Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) program offers an intensive academic and leadership development experience for African secondary school students. The program is designed to help students enhance their academic skills, explore university admissions processes, and build leadership capabilities. In 2025, YYAS will offer a residential leadership summit in Kenya and an online college preparation workshop. Both programs are free, and participants will join a network of young African leaders.

Mode:
Both Online and Offline (Kenya Residential Summit)

Eligibility:
Applicants must be 14-18 years old, fluent in English, a citizen or permanent resident of an African country (including refugees), currently attending school in Africa, in 10th or 11th grade, and must graduate secondary school by May/June 2026-2027 (Northern Hemisphere) or November/December 2025-2026 (Southern Hemisphere).
